Entertainment Partners To Provide Funding For Future Assistant Directors And Floor Managers

Two new scholarship opportunities are now available for those looking to train in the field of assistant directing and floor managing.

The National Film and Television School (NFTS) and Entertainment Partners (EP) are proud to announce two new scholarship opportunities for those looking to train in the field of assistant directing and floor managing.

EP will support two students from the NFTS Assistant Directing and Floor Managing Diploma with an ‘Entertainment Partners Scholarship’ that will cover 50% of their course fees, helping to remove a major barrier – the rising cost of living – to those entering higher education. The strong synergies with the Assistant Director role and EP’s industry-leading products, specifically the Movie Magic Budgeting, Movie Magic Scheduling and the Casting Portal – the premier end-to-end solution used to find, book, manage and pay background actors on major films and TV shows – makes the partnership a perfect match.

Last year, EP joined the NFTS as an official Patron, marking its commitment to supporting the School in training the next generation of creative talent to achieve the highest possible standard.

Katie Weekes, Managing Director – Global Casting, Entertainment Partners said; “Entertainment Partners is committed to partnering with the NFTS to help close the skills gap and support students from all backgrounds to advance their careers in the film and TV industry. Qualified Assistant Directors and Floor Managers are essential in any production, and it’s important that we remove barriers to entry and provide the next generation of UK production professionals with the education and resources they need to succeed in these roles.”

Assistant Directing and Floor Managing Diploma Graduate Sharifa Sheikh landed a job working on Sky Atlantic’s upcoming comedy drama Sweetpea just one week after finishing her final graduation film Bal Maiden at the NFTS.

“Working on that show was a fantastic experience; NFTS set me up brilliantly for the opportunity. There was so much that we learned that I could finally put into action. The School taught us key information, such as how a call sheet is structured or how to break down a script, but I often found myself remembering and implementing small lines of advice that proved just as essential.”
